Mixed news for Luton Town ahead of crunch clash later – Report

Luton Town fans here in the Tavern are hoping their side can get their promotion push back on track, having failed to win in their last five League Two encounters.

The Hatters have struggled to grind out results in recent weeks as they now find themselves in second-place, with many of our local residents expecting nothing less than automatic promotion in the current campaign. And, they’ve received some mixed news as they head into today’s fixture against Barnet, as according to Sky Sports’ pre-match team news, Alan McCormack could be in contention again but Luke Gambin and Flynn Downes are away on international duty.

Indeed, Luton Town welcome relegation contenders Barnet to Kenilworth Road for today’s League Two encounter, with the Hatters desperate to return to winning ways.

Alan McCormack was brought on as a substitute in their 1-1 draw with Newport County last time out, after failing to appear in the squad since the 16th of September against Wycombe Wanderers. And, it looks as if he could be in contention once again for today’s match, after recovering from a hernia operation and his calf injury.

However, the Hatters will be without a couple of first-team squad members due to international duty, as Luke Gambin and Flynn Downes are away with Malta and the England Under-19s respectively.

Landlord’s Verdict:

Alan McCormack being in contention for today’s match will be great news for the Hatters as one of the more experienced men in their ranks, with a key part to play on and off the field. Although, losing Flynn Downes and Luke Gambin could prove costly in today’s encounter, as both players have made key contributions in the current campaign.
