Sheffield Wednesday fans here in the Tavern are hoping their side can finally secure all three points, after going their last five Championship matches without a win.
Jos Luhukay has struggled to adjust to life in the Championship since being appointed as the club’s manager back in January, with only three wins to his name in all competitions in over three months of action. Although, there’s finally some positive news on the injury front for supporters, as according to BBC Sport’s pre-match team news, Joost Van Aken, Barry Bannan and Sam Hutchinson could all come back in for the first time since December.
Sheffield Wednesday will travel to Elland Road to face Leeds United later on today, in a match the sees two of the Championship’s out of form sides go head-to-head. And, the Owls will certainly feel the happier of the two teams, with three players possibly making a return.
Joost Van Aken suffered a hamstring injury that’s kept him out on the sidelines until now, in what’s been a rather unfortunate first season in English football. Although, news that he could come back in for today’s game will please many of our local residents, after failing to keep the opposition out in their last six matches in all competitions.
Sam Hutchinson has struggled with knee problems all season having only managed to make seven appearances, with news that he could come back in for today’s game making our local residents very wary.
However, Barry Bannan’s possible return will be the most welcome for the Owls as one of the most influential players in the squad, as the energetic Scotsman will be looking to make an immediate impact on proceedings.
This is great news for Sheffield Wednesday at a crucial time in their campaign, as they face a Leeds United side that will be looking to return to winning ways. And, having struggled to keep the opposition out in recent times, Joost Van Aken will provide some fresh legs at the back for the Owls. Also, Sam Hutchinson and Barry Bannan will be sure to bolster the midfield to give some much-needed rest to David Jones, as things look to be on the up for Sheffield Wednesday.
