Sabri Lamouchi has revealed the team news ahead of Nottingham Forest’s clash versus Fleetwood Town tonight.
The manager has revealed he will not be making any changes to his team for tonight’s game as he goes ‘all-out’ to win the tie.
Fleetwood come off the back of two wins in their opening two games of the League One season.
Lamouchi warned his players of the difficulty of the tie and said: “It’s a trap game for us, a very difficult game. We will play with a lot of respect for this cup because it is an important competition for myself, for the club and for the fans but also, I want to get a victory as soon as possible whether that is in the cup or not.” (Source: Nottingham Forest)
Joey Barton’s side have been in great form in League One, scoring five goals in their two games. However, they have also conceded in each of their league games, showing their slight vulnerability at the back.
Forest put in a supreme defensive performance against Leeds United, as they managed to snatch a draw away to the promotion favourites. Lamouchi’s side made a mammoth 40 clearances and 19 blocks as they restricted Marcelo Bielsa’s side to just one goal, despite Leeds having 15 shots on goal.
Given Fleetwood’s ability to score goals, and the two-time European Champions show of solidity at the back against Leeds, it would be better if they played on the counter-attack. Forest have given up possession in both of their Championship games so far, with West Bromwich Albion and Leeds both having more than 50%.
Nottingham Forest have shown their ability to defend, and against a team so focused on attacking and not completely solid at the back, counter-attacking could be the best plan of action.
