Pontus Jansson faces a fitness test

Pontus Jansson faces a fitness test - Championship

Leeds United fans will feel slightly anxious ahead of today’s play-off semi-final clash as their side haven’t exactly been able to ensure any consistency in recent games.

Derby will welcome the Whites to Pride Park in what will be a season-defining match for both sides.

What’s the News?

Worryingly, Leeds fans will be praying to the gods after catching wind of BBC Sport’s pre-match team news, as Pontus Jansson faces a fitness test because of an ankle problem.

The central defender, who is valued at £5.4 million (by Transfermarkt), has been one of the Whites’ standout performers in the current campaign and he leads by example on the field, so the Yorkshire club will be desperate to get him primed and ready for action today.

Leeds fans now face an anxious wait to see if the defender is fit enough to start or even appear for the Whites later on today. Of course, heading into today’s game without him could prove costly as his contributions have been priceless in the current campaign and they’ll need him to be at his best against a dangerous Derby side.

Gaetano Berardi may be asked to step in if he the Swede isn’t fit enough but Leeds fans may not want to see that happen as the Swiss defender hasn’t exactly been a regular this season.

Leeds United fans, do you think you can secure a result if Jansson doesn’t make the cut? Join in with the discussion below by sharing your thoughts with us.
