Many of the Rangers fans here in the Transfer Tavern have so far been encouraged by the club’s work in the market and hope to see that continue over the course of the next few weeks. With Sean Goss and Jamie Murphy already on board, life is good amongst our local Light Blues.
With that in mind, imagine how well reports in the Sun have gone down amongst our resident Gers. Indeed, they claim those at Ibrox are weighing up a move to sign another forward, this time in the shape of Fleetwood Town marksman Devante Cole.
They reveal that the Ibrox giants reportedly want to tie up a move for the 22-year-old on a pre-contract agreement as his deal with the Cod Army runs down. With 12 goals in 30 games, the former Bradford City man has discovered his scoring touch, after a difficult spell at Valley Parade.
Out of contract at the end of the campaign, Rangers are believed to be keen on beating the likes of Millwall to his signature and bring the son of former Manchester United legend Andy up to Scotland as Graeme Murty and director of football Mark Allen look to strengthen their squad.
Considering Cole’s form of late, it’d certainly be a popular signing amongst those in our bar.
The signing of Moussa Dembele made by Celtic in the summer of 2016 showed picking up bargains from the Football League can prove to be a hugely successful thing in the SPFL. Cole has looked a real prospect for Fleetwood and, with Rangers’ current front line looking rather inconsistent, could help finish off far more chances.
