Sheffield Wednesday now find themselves with nothing to really play for from here on in, but they did almost managed to secure a shock result against Norwich City recently.
The Owls will be desperate to give fans the results they’re craving with the season coming to a close, but it won’t be easy as they’re set to welcome Bristol City to Hillsborough today.
What’s the News?
It looks as if a couple of Sheffield Wednesday players could be missing today, as according to BBC Sport’s pre-match team news, Steve Bruce faces a number of injury concerns.
Keiren Westwood (knee) was injured in the warm-up before Friday’s match at Norwich, while Sam Hutchinson (hamstring) was taken off early on.
So, Owls fans face an anxious wait ahead of kick-off to see what kind of side Bruce is able to field.
Kieren Westwood has been influential at times in-between the sticks this season, including against Leeds United at Elland Road recently, so he could be a big miss in today’s game.
Meanwhile, Hutchinson has constantly kept things tight in the middle of midfield and plays a key part in stopping the opposition in their tracks, so operating without him could be costly with Bristol’s dangerous attack.
Nevertheless, Bruce may look to give a couple of youngsters a chance with the club’s play-off hopes vanishing.
Sheffield Wednesday fans, do you think you can cope without Westwood and Hutchinson if they miss the clash? Join in with the discussion below by sharing your thoughts with us.
