West Brom want to re-sign Dwight Gayle for their promotion push, according to The Sun.
Gayle helped West Brom reach the play-offs last season, but they seem to have a real chance at promotion this campaign, and The Sun believes Slaven Bilic is keen for him to contribute again.
His first game of the season under Steve Bruce came at Chelsea, but the manager has insisted he’ll be given more of a chance now he’s fully fit.
The report claims West Brown will be “waiting in the wings” if Gayle doesn’t sense his career is progressing at St James’ Park.
It also mentions the fact that Bilic already has Hal Robson-Kanu, Charlie Austin and Kenneth Zohore won’t stop him going for the 29-year-old in January.
If West Brom see an opportunity to snatch Gayle back, whether that be on loan or on a permanent deal, they should bite Newcastle’s hand off.
He’s proven himself at the Hawthorns and in the Championship, having scored 47 goals in his last two seasons in the division.
The Premier League has always seemed one step too far for him, with him only netting 21 goals in his previous four seasons in the top flight.
If West Brom can tempt him back down, he could fire them to automatic promotion and have another shot at making it in the big league next term.
