Wolverhampton Wanderers fans here in the Tavern are feeling extremely positive ahead of today’s match, as they only require one point to secure the Championship title.
Interestingly, the Midlands club have been unstoppable in the current campaign after spending big in the summer, as they’ve already secured promotion and could be crowned champions later on today. Although, many of our local residents did receive some disappointing news prior to kick-off against Bolton Wanderers, as according to BBC Sport’s pre-match team news, it looks as if Ivan Cavaleiro will miss the game through injury.
Indeed, Ivan Cavaleiro has been simply brilliant for Wolverhampton Wanderers so far this season, as one of their main attacking outlets with nine goals and 13 assists to his name thus far.
However, it looks as if Wolves will be without him later on today against relegation contenders Bolton Wanderers, as he was substituted in the 16th minute against Birmingham City last weekend after sustaining a hamstring injury.
Of course, with promotion already secured this won’t be too much of an issue for the league leaders, but with the title in sight, there’s no doubt that Nuno Espirito Santo will have wanted to field his strongest side.
This is a big blow for Wolverhampton Wanderers as the Portuguese winger has been key for them this season, but many of our local residents still feel confident that their side can secure all three points. And, with relegation contenders Bolton Wanderers up next, the likes of Benik Afobe and Leo Bonatini will get the opportunity to impress.
