# Arsenal: Gunners ‘in contact’ over Lautaro Martinez, he is ‘very keen’ on move

**[Arsenal](https://www.footballtransfertavern.com/arsenal-fc-news/) are reportedly ‘in contact’ with the agents of Lautaro Martinez over a potential move this summer, and the Inter Milan striker is ‘very keen’.**

### The Lowdown: Arsenal interest

Arsenal’s interest in Martinez was [reported](https://www.footballtransfertavern.com/arsenal-fc-news/lautaro-martinez-latest-transfer-rumours-updates/) earlier this week, with [Mikel Arteta](https://www.footballtransfertavern.com/tag/mikel-arteta/) thought to be a ‘big admirer’ of the player.

However, they are likely to face competition from both Manchester United and Chelsea for his signature this summer.

### The Latest: ‘In contact’

As per [Football Insider](https://www.footballinsider247.com/sources-arsenal-reignite-interest-in-80m-rated-lautaro-martinez-with-star-very-keen-on-move/), the Gunners are actually ‘in contact’ with Martinez’s agents, and he would be ‘very keen’ on a move to the Emirates Stadium.

Inter are thought to be struggling with financial problems behind the scenes, and a fee of between £70-80m should be enough to secure his services.

### The Verdict: Get it done

With Gabriel Jesus currently injured at the moment, Eddie Nketiah is the [only](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/fc-arsenal/startseite/verein/11) fit recognised striker in the squad.

Hailed as a ‘[beast](https://twitter.com/goal/status/1249618825110269952?s=20&t=wV7acJri1MVmmBipX9DK6w)‘ by his Inter striking partner Romelu Lukaku, Martinez is a player who is capable of coming in and making the striker position his own, with Jesus also able to play [out wide](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/gabriel-jesus/profil/spieler/363205).

A FIFA World Cup [winner](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/lautaro-martinez/erfolge/spieler/406625) with Argentina in December, the 25-year-old boasts [21 goals and seven assists](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/lautaro-martinez/nationalmannschaft/spieler/406625) for his country, as well as [120](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/lautaro-martinez/leistungsdatendetails/spieler/406625/plus/0?saison=&verein=46&liga=&wettbewerb=&pos=&trainer_id=) goal contributions over the course of his Inter career so far.

Nonetheless, Martinez could take the Gunners to the next level, as they look to make a statement not just in the Premier League again, but in Europe as well.
