Portsmouth: Brett Pitman’s goal gave these fans one positive to take from Burton Albion draw - Portsmouth

Many Portsmouth fans were left frustrated by their 2-2 draw with Burton Albion on Tuesday, with the result meaning they are 18th in League One with six points from six.

However, there was perhaps one positive to take from the evening, with Brett Pitman finally starting in the league and getting a goal to mark the occasion:

This was his first start of the campaign, as per WhoScored, with the striker having played exactly an hour of league football before that game.

Pompey’s former captain played the entire match against Burton and his goal came after he was close with another effort, hitting the woodwork.

Pitman’s strike from the spot was emphatic, as he sent the ball into the roof of the net, giving the goalkeeper no chance.

He has 38 goals and seven assists in 87 appearances for Pompey, as per Transfermarkt, so it shouldn’t be too much of a surprise that the 31-year-old was able to find the back of the net.

A selection of Twitter reaction to the goal, including posts from impressed Portsmouth fans, can be seen below:
