Kenny Jackett has offered an injury update ahead of Portsmouth’s League One match against Burton Albion, as reported by Pompey’s official website.
He has confirmed that Gareth Evans is available for tonight, having missed the EFL Trophy tie against Norwich City U21s with a dead leg.
However, Marcus Harness and Lee Brown are still unavailable due to their respective injuries and will be until after the Wycombe Wanderers match at least.
It will be a boost having Evans available, as the 31-year-old has started four games and come on as a substitute twice across all competitions, as per WhoScored, scoring in the 3-3 draw against Coventry City.
He has highlighted the quality of his passing already, averaging 1 key pass and 1.3 crosses in league games, while also completing 86% of the passes he has attempted.
Harness will arguably be the biggest miss for Pompey, as he has had a clinical start to the season, scoring three times and assisting once in his last four games.
The 23-year-old has also been effective in the build-up phase, making 1.2 key passes, 2 dribbles and 1.2 crosses per league game.
Portsmouth have only taken five points from five games so far this season, so they would want everyone possible available as they look to turn things around and start using their games in hand to climb the table.
Therefore, while it is a positive sign that Evans will be available again, having Harness missing is a big blow for Jackett’s side.
