This comes with good reason, as Burgess has started 11 times and come off the bench once this season for Pompey, across League One and the Carabao Cup, as per WhoScored.
In the league, he has averaged 1.1 tackles, 1.6 interceptions, 2.8 clearances and 0.6 blocks per game, while also winning an average of 3.9 aerial duels – highlighting how integral he has been for the side defensively.
