3 Sunderland transfer priorities Moyes simply must focus on in the summer (not Defoe)

Another season, another relegation scrap for Sunderland fans in the Transfer Tavern to endure.

The Black Cats currently sit rooted to the bottom of the table, seven points adrift of safety and their future looks set to be in the Championship for at least the 2017/18 season unless manager David Moyes follows his predecessors and performs a Houdini act to avoid the drop.

Their squad simply is not good enough, with only young goalkeeper Jordan Pickford and the ageing striker Jermain Defoe standing out in what has been a bleak season for the Wearside club.

And whilst Defoe’s future is unlikely to be at the Stadium of Light if they go down, there are deeper problems at the club, which our landlord believes will lead to an overhaul of the squad come the summer.

It is this view that sparked much conversation among the Sunderland fans in the Transfer Tavern with many voicing strong opinions about which players should be brought in and sent out of the club with some interesting propositions mentioned.
