As Sunderland continue their hunt in the transfer market to add extra fire power to last season’s none existent frontline, the latest man in the frame is Stuttgart’s hit man Pavel Pogrebnyak.
According to the sun, the striker’s agent, Oleg Artemov has made a claim stating “We are in negotiations with Sunderland.” It is also believed the 27 year old is keen on a move to England.
After the signings of Connor Wickham and Ji Dong-Won it is evidently clear that experience is needed to show either one the ropes all about playing at the top level.
And they don’t come more experienced than Pogrebnyak. The Russian international started out at just aged SIX begging a 13 year stint at Spartak Moscow. He has gone on to play for a host of club’s hitting the back of the net 104 times whilst leading the line.
He was a major force for Zenit St Petersburg during the 2007-08 campaign spearheading the Russian’s to European glory netting 11 goals, earning him the UEFA cup golden boot.
After two seasons in Germany he is peering towards the exit door and the Premiership is his favoured destination, and would certainly produce his biggest challenge yet.
