Donald and Ross failed to bring in experience

Sunderland have made a rather impressive start to life in League One as they remain unbeaten and are well on their way to securing promotion back to the Championship.

The Black Cats are in a great position to push on and secure promotion straight back to the Championship following last season’s relegation. Indeed, they invested heavily over the course of the summer transfer window as they brought a number of players to the club.

And, it certainly look as if the club’s owner Stewart Donald and Jack Ross’ hard work has paid off as they’ve enjoyed a great run of results so far. But, they could encounter a few problems in the long run as this is just the beginning of a long, tiring campaign.

Indeed, Sunderland brought in players that don’t necessarily have a lot of experience that this level, with a lot of younger players and fresh faces from other leagues being drafted in.

It’s the experience of certain players within the side that will lead a team to glory and can help them pull through in pressurised situations, which is key when it comes down climbing up the Football League ladder.

The League One side pride themselves on their youth system and have included a lot of exciting products in their sides over the years, and this looks to be the case this season. But, it was evident that having a youthful side didn’t bode well for them in the last campaign, and things could go terrible wrong at some point this season.
