It has not been a happy few months for the Sunderland fans in the Transfer Tavern, with even the arrival of David Moyes unable to cheer them up.
After a frustrating time of it in the transfer market, injuries to the likes of Vito Mannone and Fabio Borini have rocked the Black Cats even further.
Still, the club have provided a welcome tonic to the worries on Wearside in recent days.
Having landed Victor Anichebe on a free transfer, the club’s official site have now confirmed the arrival of a new man.
Boavista custodian Michael Simões Domingues, known commonly as ‘Mika’, has been drafted in after the Premier League club got the deal ratified by FIFA.
Despite the close of the transfer window, the 25-year-old has moved to the Stadium of Light after a technical issue held the deal up on August 31.
SAFC.com confirm that FIFA agree that both parties did as much as they can to get the deal over the line in time and have allowed the switch to go ahead.
The Portuguese will provide competition for Jordan Pickford between the sticks as the aforementioned Mannone recovers from an elbow injury.
