Dream January: Sunderland

Dream January: Sunderland

Sunderland will have their sights set on securing automatic promotion straight back to the Championship, as Jack Ross continues to work wonders at the Stadium of Light.

The Black Cats have the perfect opportunity to strengthen in all the right areas in the January transfer window. But, with a limited amount of funds possibly being available, they may have to make use of the loan system.

Indeed, the month of January could be season-defining for the Black Cats, with a number of quality signings boosting their automatic promotion chances.

Therefore, here is the perfect January for Sunderland…

CLIMB INTO AUTOMATIC PROMOTION PLACES

Sunderland currently find themselves trailing behind Luton Town and Portsmouth in the race for automatic promotion, with two games in hand over them both.

The Black Cats could climb into the automatic places if they enjoy a positive run of form right the way through to month of January, but they will have to face the likes of Charlton Athletic and Luton Town.

Therefore, supporters will be hoping that the Wearside club come out unscathed as this would give them the upper-hand in the race for promotion.

SECURE PERFECT MAJA PARTNER

Josh Maja has established himself as one of the hottest prospects in English football in the current campaign, as he is already into double figures for goals.

Sadly, Chris Maguire and Jerome Sinclair have struggled to score on a regular basis, while Charlie Wyke has only just returned from injury, so reinforcements are definitely needed.

Indeed, with promotion to the Championship at stake, Jack Ross needs to look at bringing in someone like Jermain Defoe, who could turn out to be the perfect partner for Maja. The 20-year-old has shown that he can score bags of goals in League One, but he needs someone with experience that can help develop his game and lighten the load on his young shoulders at the pinnacle of the attack.
