Ex-Newcastle chief Pardew reportedly lined up by Sunderland

As if things weren’t bad enough for the Sunderland fans drowning their sorrows in the Transfer Tavern, reports from ESPN today have sparked a furious reaction.

With manager David Moyes having resigned following the Black Cats’ dismal drop down into the Championship, the latest man to be linked with the job at the Stadium of Light is a familiar face in the North East.

According to their report, former Newcastle United boss Alan Pardew is being lined up by top brass at the Stadium of Light as they prepare for life back in the Championship.

Having been sacked at Crystal Palace before the turn of the year, the 55-year-old is reportedly keen on returning to management and, amazingly, is said to be open to the idea of managing Sunderland.

In order to do so, the job would apparently have to be the right long-term project, in what would be a hugely controversial appointment.

As you can imagine, considering his standing amongst the Newcastle fans in the Tavern, the Sunderland fans are being pelted by jokes and jibes about Pardiola’s potential appointment.
