Former Leicester City boss not set to take vacant managerial position at Sunderland

It’s been quite the bump back down to earth for Leicester City over the past twelve months after the success of their astonishing title win two years ago.

The Foxes haven’t quite had it all their own way over the past year and it’s clear that defending their title was always going to be a tall ask.

They didn’t take the title back to the King Power Stadium and instead, the Thai owners decided the club were better off without Claudio Ranieri at the helm.

And there’s another former Leicester City boss that is back in the headlines today and that’s Nigel Pearson.

He’d been linked to the vacant managerial post at the Stadium Light, with Sunderland still yet to confirm the successor to former Manchester United boss David Moyes.

The relegated side have taken their time in finding the new man that will lead them forward and according to the Leicester Mercury, Pearson has ruled himself out of the running for the position.

With pre-season on the horizon and the summer now in full swing, the Black Cats could do with finding someone sooner rather than later but that man doesn’t look like it will be Nigel Pearson.

Sunderland’s first game back in the Championship will be against Derby County on the opening day of the season.
