Sunderland failed to secure all three points against Shrewsbury Town yesterday as they could only grab a point at the Stadium of Light.
The Black Cats still remain in the race for an automatic promotion place, but they will need to improve if they are to make the most of their games in hand over the top two.
Although, it appears as if the Wearside club are closing in on a player agreement, as according to the Sunderland Echo, George Honeyman is on the brink of aogreeing a new deal.
Indeed, Jack Ross hopes that there will be confirmation on Gooch’s new deal shortly.
The American has been one of the standout performers for the Black Cats this season, and he will play a huge part from here on in until the end of the season.
“Lynden is as far as I’m aware all but agreed, subject to paperwork,”
“Until it’s signed and registered, I believe that to be the case.”

Sunderland will be delighted that they’re closing in on securing a new deal for George Honeyman as he has been simply sensational for the Black Cats this season.
Indeed, with their automatic promotion hopes still very much alive, he will play a huge part in the final third, with assists and goals being ever-present.
