The Sunderland fans in the Transfer Tavern are really rather eager to kick off the new campaign as soon as possible, in an attempt to put last season’s nightmare behind them.
Though many of our weary Wearside locals don’t fully know what to expect as they prepare for life in the Championship, it surely cannot be as dismal as their relegation from the Premier League last time out.
Indeed, Simon Grayson looks to be conducting a big overhaul at the Stadium of Light and recent reports suggest he is closing in on a deal to bring Ross McCormack to the North East. The Scotland international is reportedly a loan target, having worked with Grayson when the pair were at Leeds United.
Though the former Scotland international has endured his fair share of problems in recent seasons, few would doubt his goalscoring prowess in the second tier. With that in mind, here’s a look at how Twitter reacted.
So Ross McCormack to #safc on loan? Not to sure about him tbh but guaranteed to score goals @JHunterChron @RokerReport

Guaranteed the deal for McCormack will involve a clause which means we have to buy if we are promoted. #SAFC

35k a week and 500k loan fee. Why not just report it as all of his wages? #avfc #safc #McCormack .

Is McCormack the lad who wouldn't train last year as he said his gates were broken and he couldn't get out? #safc

Don't like loans but McCormack one makes sense to me. If attitude's poor we're not stuck with him. Loan doesn't benefit Villa though #SAFC
