What a dire season it has been for Sunderland so far this year.
The Black Cats lost Sam Allardyce to England, needlessly as it turned out, in the summer before David Moyes was appointed with very little time to buy the players he wanted before the summer window shut.
Our resident Black Cats fans here in the Transfer Tavern were still relatively happy with his appointment though and felt he would still do the job required, but has that not come about so far.
Sunderland are yet to win in ten Premier League games, the joint worst since the top-flight was rebranded and they are a staggering eight points from safety already in lying bottom of the pile.
Clearly, then, some serious work needs to be done to the squad if they are to stay up and our landlord thinks a serious clear-out is needed.
