Sunderland are still in the market to add players to their squad this summer as they look to win promotion from League One.
The Celtic midfielder is thought to be available for a loan move away from Parkhead this summer as Brendan Rodgers does not appear to have plans for the youngster.
The Black Cats are keen to add a couple more players to their squad ahead of the transfer deadline and Ross revealed the £765k-rated (via Transfermarkt) player is a man that would fit what he is looking for.
“Ryan is a player that I like. He has good qualities but again it is a balance between what we need in the squad. He is a left footer and we don’t have a lot of them in the squad in forward areas,” he told the Northern Echo.
“He is a player that I am actually aware of and he fits the kind of bracket in terms of he has played a lot of games for a young man.”
Sunderland have already started their League One campaign in good form and the addition of Christie would certainly help them to continue that run.
The midfielder is well down the pecking order at Celtic Park this season, with Rodgers’ having a number of options in front of him to choose from.
A loan move to the Black Cats would be beneficial for the 23-year-old as he would likely get regular first-team football at the Stadium of Light at a competitive level, rather than just sitting in the reserve side in Glasgow.
