Jack Ross is confident one man can make a real difference to Sunderland this season when he makes a return from injury.
The Republic of Ireland international has been absent this season with a calf injury since pre-season, however, Ross is in no doubt that the 32-year-old has enough proven quality about himself and will strengthen the side when he returns.
“His quality is proven, undoubtedly at a higher level than this,” he told the Glasgow Evening Times.
“I know that from playing against him from when I was a player and obviously the level that he’s played at in his career since, so when he comes back he just strengthens us again.
“He’s been injured since pre-season. He has a calf injury, so he isn’t back to fitness, he’s had a few setbacks with it. But hopefully he can continue to make good progress and he’ll be available sooner rather than later.”
There is no doubt that McGeady is a quality player, having featured for the likes of Everton, Spartak Moscow, Celtic and his country on numerous times.
The 32-year-old would certainly help to provide some key experience to the squad and will be looking to get going once again and help fire Sunderland back into the Championship at the first time of asking.
With him and the likes of Charlie Wyke up front, the Black Cats and Ross will have every reason to be fairly confident of their chances this season.
