Sunderland will be desperate to really kick on and enjoy a win streak as they’ve drawn two of their last three League One fixtures.
The Black Cats have been completely redefined under the guidance of Jack Ross in the current campaign, with automatic promotion straight back to the Championship well within their sights. And, to make things even better, it appears as if the club could secure a double player agreement in the near future, as according to the Sunderland Echo, Ross is confident that Josh Maja and Lynden Gooch will sign new deals.
Ross is content with his current options, so his attention has turned towards securing agreements with a couple of players.
Sunderland are aiming to tie down Josh Maja and Lynden Gooch, who have both contributed heavily in the final third for the Black Cats this season.
Talks are ongoing and Ross provided an update recently, as he had this to say:
“There has been continued dialogue between the board and their representatives.
“Like everything, sometimes these things are more prolonged but there is nothing as yet that would suggest they are not going to stay at the club, which is good.
“There are little bits and pieces that have to be tidied up, that is what the two parties are in the process of trying to do.”
It would be huge for the Black Cats if they managed to tie them both down to new deals.
Josh Maja has established himself as one of the hottest topics in English football in the current campaign, with plenty of potential still yet to be unlocked. He is currently the club’s top scorer and will play a huge part in their promotion push, so securing him on a long-term deal is vital.
Lynden Gooch has provided a number of goals and assists this season as one of the standout performers in the side, and could attract attention in the January transfer window.
