Jack Ross’ new look Sunderland side suffered defeat in the Carabao Cup last night as Sheffield Wednesday beat the Black cats 2-0.
After a solid start to the season, the Black Cats lost to a side that has failed to bring in any players over the summer.
On the other hand, Sunderland brought in 12 new faces to the squad as Jack Ross and Stewart Donald look to stop the club from being relegated for a third successive season.
Among those 12 new recruits, Sunderland managed to bring in Jerome Sinclair and former Bradford City striker, Charlie Wyke.
Sunderland needed to bring in a striker following the loss of Joel Asoro, and with Wyke, they have a striker who has experience of playing League One and scored 15 goals last season in the league.
However, when Sunderland signed the striker, he was carrying an injury which has kept him out recently but Jack Ross has now confirmed that he will be back sooner than later, as reported by the Chronicle Live.
Following the loss, Ross admitted that he hoped to have Wyke available by the end of the month, which is great news for Sunderland fans.
With Jerome Sinclair also out with an injury, Sunderland have been relying on academy graduate, Josh Maja up front and although the youngster has started the season well, having Wyke back and fit is going to be a huge plus for the squad.
With the former Bradford City man up front, Sunderland have a real chance of gaining promotion this season.
