Sunderland failed to secure all three points against Walsall last time out as Lynden Gooch managed to salvage a point late on at the Bescot Stadium.
The Black Cats will be desperate to kick on and extend their lead in the automatic promotion places, with promotion rivals Barnsley up next, tomorrow night, at the Stadium of Light.
However, the Wearside club are currently sweating over an injury ahead of the crucial clash, as according to The Sunderland Echo, Jack Ross is hoping to have Dylan McGeouch fit.
Sadly, the midfielder missed the 2-2 draw at Walsall with a knock and Ross says he will be assessed ahead of the midweek game at the Stadium of Light.
It’s vital for Ross to get McGeouch back in the side with Max Power facing a five-game ban following his third red card of the season and Lee Cattermole also still missing with a foot problem.
“Possibly. I thought he would be OK to be in the squad at Walsall but he just didn’t quite make it, we will look at that again tomorrow.”
Dylan McGeouch has been one of the standout performers for Sunderland in the current campaign, so they’ll be desperate to welcome him back into the side due to the lack of options in midfield at this moment in time.
Tomorrow’s League One clash could prove to be one of the biggest matches in their campaign, with a win helping them extend their lead over the Tykes in the automatic promotion places.
