Sunderland will enjoy a one-off break at the weekend as their match with Blackpool has been postponed.
The Black Cats have seen their home clash with The Tangerines rescheduled due to international call-ups and Jack Ross has revealed that he will look to make most of the time off.
The Stadium of Light outfit beat Carlisle United in the Checkatrade Trophy on Tuesday evening, whilst having defeated Bradford City in League One at the weekend in a hard-fought contest.
“We’ll do some recovery work and have some time off at the end of the week and over the weekend, and then come back on Monday,” Ross told the Newcastle Chronicle.
“It’s a good time for us to have a breather, because you don’t often get that in this league.
“We’ll take advantage of that.”
Ross is correct in stating that his side should look to make the most of the opportunity presented to them.
There rarely is any break for clubs in the lower leagues, unless the weather hits during the winter months, so the players should enjoy the time to recharge their batteries.
League One is starting to reach a hectic time, with fixtures coming quick and fast, and it could be a helping hand in Sunderland’s efforts to win promotion to the Championship this season.
