Sunderland added a number of players to their squad in the summer and one of those signings has revealed just why he decided to join them.
Jerome Sinclair joined the Black Cats on a season-long loan deal from Watford, however, he has had a frustrating time since being in the north-east.
The forward picked up a hamstring injury in their League One opener against Charlton Athletic and has only just been able to make a return to the side.
The 22-year-old is keen to play as much football as he can and has revealed Jack Ross played a major role in his decision to join Sunderland.
Speaking to the Shields Gazette, Sinclair said: “Speaking to the manager was a major part of the decision making to come to this club.
“It is a massive club, a Premier League club, to speak with him and to hear how he viewed me fitting in and being a big part of the team is very important.”
Sinclair will be looking to make up for lost time and will want to get those important minutes under his belt.
The Watford striker was obviously impressed with how Ross spoke to him about a possible move to the Stadium of Light and it looks as though the player could have the chance to impress him.
Charlie Wyke is out injured for a significant period of time and Sinclair could be called upon to lead the line when the Black Cats meet Coventry City on Saturday afternoon.
