Our Sunderland fans here in the Transfer Tavern are pretty happy with how their season has started in the Championship under Simon Grayson this year.
The men from Wearside were naturally worried about sinking in the second tier after how poor last year was but they seem to be doing just fine in terms of staying afloat.
Indeed, they’ve lost just the once this season – last weekend against Leeds – and so it seems like they’ll be challenging for the play-offs or better if they can keep it up.
For sure, then, the Black Cats’ fans are looking forward to seeing what they can do this year and whilst we wait for that Grayson has been speaking about where Wahbi Khazri could end up – with or without the club.
Indeed, he’s not featured much this season but Grayson has said that if he doesn’t end up leaving in this window he will utilise him as a number 10.
He said – as quoted by Chronicle Live:
“I see him playing as a 10, but so far we have played with two out-and-out strikers so it hasn’t suited him as yet.”
It remains to be seen, then, as to whether the player stays and if Grayson does decide to switch up his shape.
Grayson seems to have done a pretty decent job of galvanising his players so far this season and so if he could do that with Khazri – should he stay – that would be a bonus.
The midfielder has got plenty of talent and tricks, he just needs to do it more consistently and that will be Grayson’s challenge if the player remains on Wearside.
