Sunderland earned a late draw against Fleetwood but it was a frustrating evening that relied on Phil Parkinson to make personnel changes in order to salvage a point.
Indeed, the Black Cats finished the game with a very attacking line-up that included Antoine Semenyo and Kyle Lafferty alongside Sunderland’s typical front three. The latter made a difference with his physical presence and made a nuisance of himself which created the space for Max Power to equalise and many supporters were left impressed with his display.
As a result, some Sunderland fans are keen to see Charlie Wyke dropped or rested after starting 15 consecutive games, having been unimpressed with his return of four goals in that time, as a consequence to Lafferty potentially taking up a starting berth.
It will be interesting to see if Parkinson does make changes for the key visit to Coventry on Sunday and whether Lafferty gets a chance to prove why he was brought in last month.
Absolutely, they’ve played well together before and gives us more attacking strength.

I’d start Lafferty and bench Wyke. Lafferty can move about, and actually jump and challenge for the ball. Two attributes which Wyke doesn’t seem to possess.

I’d start him this weekend. Wyke playing over 100 mins in 4 days will not end well if you consider his past injuries. I know it defeats the point of you’re tweet but I’d like to see Lafferty longer than 20 mins

Time wasting from the 5th minute, Fleetwood deserved everything they got tonight conceding the late goal. On a side note surely Parkinson has to give Lafferty a chance as Wyke offers absolutely nothing #safc
