The Sunderland fans who are gathered at the bar in The Transfer Tavern this evening are discussing reports their manager is set to be offered a new deal with the club.
The Sun is suggesting that manager Sam Allardyce is set to sign a new improved deal with the Premier League side, after masterminding their great escape from the drop.
Part of the new terms in his contract is believed to be full control over player recruitment, something not previously afforded to previous incumbents of the Black Cats hot-seat.
Following the arrival of Martin Bain from Rangers, there were indications the 61-year old would not be afforded complete control.
However, those fears appear to have been allayed and the former Bolton coach will remain on Wearside, building for the future.
The club are hoping that the change in stance on the recruitment side will improve the playing side, which will hopefully lead the club to a more successful season rather than the annual fight against relegation.
‘Big Sam’ will also reportedly be handed a sizeable war chest by those behind the scenes at the Stadium of Light as they to put an end to their constant relegation battles.
The Sunderland fans in The Tavern are delighted with the news and look forward to seeing a raft of new signings this summer.
Will Sunderland break the mould of their constant battles to beat the drop?
