Massive blow for Sunderland as season threatens to combust

Our Sunderland fans here in the Transfer Tavern were hoping for a brighter 2017 but with The Sun’s report Jordan Pickford could miss the first few months of it, that looks to be pretty unlikely.

The Black Cats have really struggled for any kind of form or consistency this season and that has once again left them embroiled in a Premier League relegation battle.

David Moyes has not yet had the impact he would have liked and now it looks as though he’ll have to go looking for a new goalkeeper in January with Pickford ruled out for a considerable amount of time.

The report suggests the young Englishman will be out until mid-March and by that point Sunderland could be in very big trouble if they cannot start getting results regularly.

Despite their woes this season, Pickford had been one of their brightest lights and offered a beacon of hope that they might be able to stay up with him in goal.

Now, though, they’ll have to get on with things without him and our landlord thinks it might just be one setback too many for this season.

How big a miss will Pickford be, Sunderland fans? Let us know below!
