Sunderland won’t accept anything less than an automatic promotion place having won their last three games in League One, with momentum starting to build.
The Black Cats have managed to ensure consistency in recent times but things could soon take a negative turn.
Indeed, March could be one of the toughest months yet for the Black Cats with six more games to come, including a trip to Barnsley and Burton Albion rocking up at the Stadium of Light.
Of course, many things could go wrong this month, with injuries and a number of players potentially dropping in form. So here is Sunderland’s nightmare March…
AIDEN MCGEADY LOSES HIS TOUCH
Aiden McGeady has established himself as one of the best players in League One in the current campaign as he continues to rip defences to shreds, with 10 goals and five assists to his name.
The Irishman has been too hot to handle at times and is set to play a huge part in the Black Cats’ automatic promotion push from here on in. But, fans could soon fear for their side’s season if the 32-year-old loses his special touch in the final third as his creativity and goals have been invaluable up until this point.
AUTOMATIC PROMOTION SLIPS AWAY
Sunderland currently find themselves sitting in third position but they still have a game in hand over both Barnsley and Luton Town, so their automatic promotion hopes are still very much alive.
However, the Black Cats have struggled to close out games at times this season as they’ve drawn far too many matches, and Jack Ross’ side could soon revert back to their old ways if they go through a rough patch.
Therefore, March could turn out to be a month to forget if they fail to cope with a packed schedule.
