Sunderland have been rather impressive so far this season, despite dropping a number of points from promising positions.
The Black Cats would have had their sights set on promotion straight back to the Championship after investing heavily during the summer transfer window, but they haven’t been able to hit the front just yet.
Indeed, it’s vital that Sunderland can ensure consistency in what could prove to be a season-defining month, with the opportunity to secure an automatic promotion place.
Although, with plenty of games still yet to come and a number of negative factors possibly coming into play, the Wearside club could soon find themselves slipping away.
Therefore, here’s TWO things that could force Sunderland to take a step backwards…
JOSH MAJA ENCOUNTERS ROUGH PATCH
Josh Maja has been simply sensational this season as one of the standout performers in League One, with a handful of goals to his name already. The Englishman is one of the main reasons behind the Black Cats’ positive start to the current campaign and will no doubt be the key man in their push for promotion.
However, things could all start going wrong if the youngster encounters a rough patch in front of goal as he has been the go-to man for Jack Ross, so inspiration may be hard to find.
SLIDE AWAY FROM AUTOMATIC PROMOTION PLACES
Sunderland have gotten themselves into a rather promising position with an automatic promotion place well within their reach at this moment in time.
Although, things could all change in a split second in what is a hotly contested League One table, so a dip in form from Jack Ross’ side could force them to slip down the table, which could mean that they face an uphill task to get anything positive out of the current campaign.Like what the TT have on offer?
