Papy Djilobodji could finally leave Sunderland

Sunderland could finally offload one of their players this summer as interest appears to grow.

According to a report by Sport Buzzer, Hannover’s president Martin Kind has revealed that Papy Djilobodji is one man that the Bundesliga outfit are interested in signing during the transfer window.

“(Talks) are open with the two. There are discussions, but still no commitment,” he told the media outlet.

Sunderland are desperate to offload the man they signed from Chelsea in 2016 as he is thought to be one of the highest earners at the Stadium of Light and does not appear to be interested in playing for the Black Cats again after reports from the Newcastle Chronicle revealed he had missed pre-season training.

The former Nantes defender has experience in Germany football, having spent time at Werder Bremen in the past and could be tempted to make a return to the Bundesliga.

The Verdict:

Sunderland will be hoping that they can finally offload the defender, who has proven to be an expensive flop for the Wearsiders.

Valued at £4.95million (via Transfermarkt), the Senegal international is thought to have cost the Black Cats a fee in the region of £8.55m to join from Chelsea (via Transfermarkt), although they know they will not get anything near that for him now.

Djilobodji could finally seal an exit from the Stadium of Light this summer, a move that will delight everyone connected to the club.
