Our Sunderland fans here in the Transfer Tavern are well used to the drill in relegation battles this season and they’ve just received a huge potential boost from Jordan Pickford – via The Daily Star.
Our local Black Cats have had a pretty poor time of it for more than just this season, of course, and last weekend’s result just about summed up how things have gone recently.
The men from the north-east followed up their 4-0 win at Crystal Palace by losing 4-0 at home to Southampton in a result that surely set them back to square one.
Fortunately for them, though, they know exactly how to pick themselves up and the potential return of Pickford for the upcoming game against Everton has to be welcomed.
The young English stopper has been out of action for several weeks but now could be back between the sticks in time for the game against the Toffees and the all important run-in.
The young ‘keeper said of his recovery:
“The knee is fine now.
“I’ve had a good six to eight weeks off but I’m working really hard in the gym and getting my knee right.
“Hopefully, I’ll be ready for Everton.”
Our Sunderland fans certainly can’t wait to see him back in action and our landlord reckons he certainly has the capability to save the club from the drop.
