Sunderland currently find themselves sitting just outside of the automatic promotion places after failing to secure a valuable three points against promotion rivals Luton Town recently.
The Black Cats will need to improve if they are to stand any chance of securing promotion straight back to the Championship this season, as they’ve thrown away promising positions far too often in recent times.
Although, one thing that Jack Ross has to be credited for is his summer transfer window business as he secured a number of gem signings, as the likes of Tom Flanagan, Jack Baldwin, Max Power, Jon McLaughlin, Reece James and Dylan McGeouch have all played big parts during the first half of the season.
But, not every signing was a success for the Wearside club as Alim Ozturk hasn’t been the brightest of sparks since joining on a two-year contract.
Sadly, the 26-year-old has found it impossible to work his way into the Scotsman’s plans after his early-season displays, as the likes of Jack Baldwin, Glen Loovens and Tom Flanagan have kept him out of the side. The Turkish international has only managed to feature in five League One matches, which just goes to show that Ross has a limited amount of faith in his ability at this moment in time.
He has struggled to ensure defensive solidity, hasn’t developed the ball-playing side of his game and fails to deal with strong and pacy attacks, so he won’t be around for much longer.
And, his recent performance against league leaders Portsmouth provided him with another day to forget as he was sluggish for the second goal and constantly put his side on the back foot. So, Ross either has to discard him completely or send him out on loan as he can be seen as a liability in Sunderland’s pursuit of promotion.
