Selling Lee Cattermole just makes sense for the Black Cats

Following another Josh Maja goal, Sunderland managed to salvage a draw from their game against Luton, to make it four points out of six for the Black Cats.

The Sunderland faithful will’ve been hoping for a good start to the season following their descent down the leagues.

Sunderland snatched a win last week thanks to a Lynden Gooch last-gasp header. The club now sit eighth in the league and still remain one of the teams tipped to be promoted back into the Championship.

Jack Ross has managed to bringing in multiple new players this summer but has also lost players such as Joel Asoro and Lamine Kone.

It’s quite clear that new owner Stewart Donald has been looking to clear out some of the club’s high earners on the wage bill but also players who realistically aren’t the future of the club.

It’s now been reported by the Sunday Mirror via Sky Sport’s gossip page that Sunderland’s long-standing midfield man, Lee Cattermole is being lined up for a move to join former Sunderland manager, Gus Poyet.

With new signings Luke O’Nien, Dylan McGeouch, recent arrival Mx Power and the impressive Bali Mumba in midfield, Lee Cattermole’s chances of playing seem very slim.

Cattermole had been linked with a move to Hull City earlier in the summer but a move never materialised.

A move to France may seem like a great chance for the midfield man, especially as he doesn’t have a future at the club.
