At the Football Transfer Tavern, we have been eagerly awaiting to see where Aston Villa outcast Joleon Lescott will be heading to next. The punters who support Villa were disappointed by his twitter antics and poor performances last season.
With Tommy Elphick and James Chester joining during the transfer window, a move away could be best for both the club and the player.
The former Man City man may be out of favour, though he has reportedly attracted interest from other clubs.
Rangers have been rumoured to be looking to take him to Glasgow, but it seems like the man who managed him during his time at Everton, David Moyes, could hijack the deal and bring him to Sunderland.
According to the Daily Record, the Black Cats chief is ready to rival the Glasgow giants for the 34-year old.
The English defender will be available on a free transfer and with Lamine Kone reportedly unsettled at the club and being close to getting a move to Everton, Lescott could be a good replacement.
The free transfer would allow Moyes to invest the money from the Kone sale in other areas, whether that is another defender or someone who plays further up the pitch.
Would Lescott be a coup for Rangers? Surely his PL career is finished?! Let us know below…
