Sunderland battle North East neighbours in race for bargain international midfielder

Morrison

The West Bromwich Albion fans who are competing in a pool tournament in The Transfer Tavern this evening are discussing reports that a duo of clubs are interested in making a move for one of their midfield players this summer.

According to the Daily Mirror, both Sunderland and Middlesbrough are interested in bringing James Morrison back to the North East.

The Scottish international will be available at the end of the month when his current deal expires at the Hawthorns, making him an attractive prospect.

The 29-year old is no stranger to the area, having began his career at the Riverside Stadium before leaving for £1.5 million to join the Baggies back in 2007.

He has not played under Tony Pulis since rupturing his hamstring against Crystal Palace back in January, in what could yet prove to be his last appearance in the Midlands.

The West Brom fans in The Tavern admit that they would be sorry to see Morrison leave and hope the club offer him some sort of extension for his loyalty to the club.

Would Morrison be an astute addition on a free?
