Sunderland suffered a disappointing result at the hands of Portsmouth at the weekend as they lost 2-0 to the men from Fratton Park in Sky Bet League One on Saturday.
The Black Cats have had a good 2020 so far this year and January was a very positive month for them as they turned things around form wise.
However, losing to Portsmouth showed that they are going to have to fight hard to get to the top two spots in the league this season, with another big game coming up this weekend against Ipswich Town.
Plenty to look forward to for the Black Cats, though, and they’ll also be looking forward to seeing Joel Lynch back as soon as possible.
The defender suffered a nasty-looking head injury at the weekend but initial tests at hospital have suggested he should be okay sooner rather than later:
Tests at the hospital on Saturday night showed no signs of a serious head injury for Joel Lynch.
He'll obviously continue to be closely monitored.
Sure there'll be a full update at press conference later in the week on how he's doing but clearly, initial indications a relief.
