Sunderland: Black Cats fans love Luke O’Nien tweet

Loads of Sunderland fans reacted to a comical tweet from Black Cats defender Luke O’Nien raising awareness of the nationwide campaign to ‘Stay Home & Save Lives.’
O’Nien has made over 30 appearances in League One for Phil Parkinson’s side this season, picking up 4 goals and 3 assists, after making the switch from central midfield to right-wing-back (Transfermarkt). The Englishman is a versatile player who can operate as part of the backline or in the midfield.
Since moving to Wearside from Wycombe Wanderers in the summer of 2018, the 25-year-old has become a first-team regular under Parkinson, and his impressive performances have certainly not gone unnoticed.
The former Watford player’s contract is set to expire at the end of the campaign, whenever the English third-tier actually finishes, although it is believed the board have an option to extend the agreement for a further year, and many supporters will be praying the club trigger the clause to stop the fan favourite leaving.
Unsurprisingly plenty of Rokerites reacted to O’Nien’s post, with one fan commenting “this is why we love you.”

Love this. Great player and possibly one of the funniest. I remember being behind the goal early this season watching you give the keeper a wedgy just out of the refs site. Amazing 🤣😂🤣
