Sunderland chasing experienced star in bid to build on early momentum

Our Sunderland fans here in the Transfer Tavern are pretty happy with how their season has started this year with four points from a possible six.

Indeed, after a few years of pretty poor football the Black Cats seem to be playing some decent stuff and they’ve certainly been more than equal to their two opponents so far – Derby and Norwich.

Certainly, those sides are expected to challenge for the play-offs and with Sunderland not losing to either, they’ll also be hopeful that they can mount a top six charge.

For sure, then, that will be Simon Grayson’s task for this season and it seems as though he is still on the lookout for players who he feels will be able to add to his team.

Indeed, as per A Bola, the Black Cats boss is reportedly chasing Sporting Lisbon’s right-back, Ezequiel Schelotto.

The 28-year-old defender is up for sale this summer and so could be attainable for the club from Wearside but it also looks as though that they are going to have to battle Middlesbrough and Brighton for his signature.

Landlord’s Verdict

Simon Grayson has done a good job this season so far and the players he has brought in have seemingly settled in fairly well.

Certainly, then, the Black Cats’ fans should feel as though he knows what he is doing in the chase for the experienced Schelotto.
