Sunderland could face complications in pursuit for Charlie Wyke

Sunderland have been trying to bring a striker to the Stadium of Light this summer, however, they have found it difficult to land one so far.

The Black Cats have been linked with a number of different names during the transfer window as they look to bolster their attacking options ahead of the upcoming League One campaign.

Sunderland will be keen on getting back to the Championship at the first attempt, as they look to start a new era under Jack Ross, however, the former St. Mirren manager has found it difficult to bring a frontman to Wearside.

The Mackems have missed out on Mo Eisa this summer, with the Cheltenham Town striker completing a move to Bristol City, whilst Billy Sharp has reiterated his desire to remain at Sheffield United.

Charlie Wyke is another the Black Cats have been linked with throughout the transfer window, however, a report in the Sunderland Echo is now claiming that they could become frustrated with their pursuit for the player.

It is believed that things have become complicated for the Bradford City man after he picked up an injury against the Blades in a friendly last week.

The Verdict:

Sunderland will be disappointed to continue to miss out on a number of their transfer targets this summer and will not want to fail once again.

The 25-year-old is thought to have attracted plenty of interest from clubs in the Football League and the Black Cats will certainly have a decision to make about him.

With his latest injury setback, it could be a gamble for the club to make, however, if they do not bring someone with his quality in, they may miss out on promotion from League One this season.
