Sunderland: Duncan Watmore handed ‘exit’ talk by fans

Plenty of Sunderland fans have said they would not offer winger Duncan Watmore a new contract during a recent social media debate.
The Manchester-born forward moved to the Stadium of Light in 2013 and has been part of the Black Cats sides that suffered relegation from the Premier League to League One. Appearing 17 times in the league this season, the 26-year-old has scored one goal and gained three assists in the process (as per Transfermarkt).
With his current contract set to expire in June, some fans have now indicated that they would not be keen to see him renew terms and remain at the Wearside club.
Sunderland, who sit seventh in League One as things stand, are on the verge of missing out on a play-off place, which ultimately will see them have a third straight year in England’s third tier. Documented via Netflix series Sunderland ‘Til I Die, the fall of the club has been widely publicised to football fans in England and beyond.
Reacting to a fan question on Watmore via Facebook group Sunderland AFC Fans Group, these Sunderland fans had their say…
Rhys Lincoln: No he should be first out door, his wages could get 4 quality league 1 players
Allen Bell: I wouldn’t give him a snotty hanky
Neil Hagel: No sorry to many injuries, give him his dues he tries but we need fighters and battlers in this division
Anita Armstrong: No. He is defo past his best
Mark Humphrey: Nee way
Carl Gracey: Nope never
John Dewar: Who?
Paul Smith: No
Alan Kempsey: No
Jim Howie: No
