Our Sunderland fans here in the Transfer Tavern are certainly looking forward to seeing their side get going in the Championship this season as they are hoping for a promotion challenge.
The men from the Stadium of Light have endured a tough old time of things in recent years but this drop into the Championship might just see them rebuild and put together a stronger looking team.
Simon Grayson, then, will be looking to sign some solid players and, according to getwestlondon, Aston Villa’s Ross McCormack is on his shopping list.
Our landlord, though, isn’t too sure about this deal if it goes through.
The Scottish attacker was a real force at Fulham and when he moved to Aston Villa at the start of last season it looked as though he was the man expected to fire them back into the Premier League.
That, though, fell well flat on its face and the same could just happen if he ends up at Sunderland. For sure, there is real risk involved with McCormack if he gets unsettled at a club and with the Black Cats looking for anything but more instability, there can be no doubt that Simon Grayson should avoid this one.
