Our Sunderland fans here in the Transfer Tavern are about to most miserable group you’ll find right now but, according to The Express, they may be about to sign Robbie Keane and Joleon Lescott.
The Black Cats have had another terrible season so far this year and look likely to get relegated if they can’t turn things around quickly.
Many here in the Transfer Tavern want to see the the club sign some extra players, then, and the potential signing of the two veterans could help that out.
Both are currently free agents with Keane having left LA Galaxy and Lescott training with the club after leaving AEK Athens in Greece.
Our landlord reckons their combined experience could help the club stay up – particularly if Keane can start finding goals alongside Jermain Defoe.
The two have terrorised Premier League defences over the years and the pair could relish one last hurrah in keeping the Black Cats up and into next season.
Lescott, meanwhile, has a point to prove after going down with Aston Villa last season and our landlord thinks he needs to show he’s still got some quality.
