Our Sunderland fans here in the Transfer Tavern can’t wait for their side to try and bounce back from an awful 2016/17.
The Black Cats finally fell into the abyss last season and are now in the Championship ahead of what is likely to be a tough campaign.
In Simon Grayson, though, they have a manager who knows full well how to manage in tough situations and so there should be some elements of optimism around the club.
Signings, then, are going to be a must this summer if the club is to stabilise and, according to Chronicle Live, Daryl Murphy is on the shopping list.
The striker is currently at Newcastle but hasn’t really forced himself into the first team and so a loan deal could be on to see him return to one of his former sides.
For sure, Sunderland need a new striker with Jermain Defoe leaving for Bournemouth and so it remains to be seen if Murphy proves to be the answer.
