Sunderland facing trouble to land Ryan Christie

Sunderland could miss out on landing one of their targets this summer if things do not improve for the Black Cats immediately.

According to a report in the Shields Gazette, their pursuit of Celtic’s Ryan Christie could be scuppered should Didier Ndong and Papy Djilobodji continue to delay possible exits.

Jack Ross is keen on bringing the Scotland international to the Stadium of Light as it is understood he is available on a loan deal, however, it is thought the 23-year-old has plenty of options.

And, as long as Djilobodji and Ndong remain on the club’s books, Sunderland are unable to make a move for the £765k-rated midfielder, as per Transfermarkt.

Both players are thought to want to leave the club this summer after refusing to train with the side following their relegation to League One, however, clubs are yet to make a move for them and Ross knows that they may not do so until after the deadline in England closes.

The Verdict:

Sunderland have started life in League One well, however, they would do extremely well to bring Christie to the Stadium of Light this summer.

However, with the lack of movement about possible exits for Djilobodji and Ndong, they may not have the opportunity to bring the 23-year-old to the club.

With time running out, and plenty of other teams interested in the Celtic’s fringe player, it may be one signing that Ross does not bring to the Black Cats this summer.
